AutoCAD 2004 and 2004 based products don't directly support the Background Mask feature found in AutoCAD 2005. So if Background Mask is enabled on Mtext it might not display correctly in AutoCAD 2004. There is some hope in that if you install SP1 for AutoCAD 2004 it will display correctly. However, if Background Mask is added to Dimensions they will not be displayed correctly. All I can say is that my fingers are crossed to have Autodesk build, dare I say it an Object Enabler that will display Background Mask correctly for both Mtext and Dimensions. While they are at it please enable Tables to live as not Proxies, but as a Table objects. I guess its not Christmas, but one can ask though. Let Autodesk know how you feel about it and they might do something about it.
Sincerely,
Lee Ambrosius
