I have just recently read an article on the editions that Microsoft will be coming out with for its next OS, Windows Vista. Now we only have two editions to contend with on the desktop today with Windows XP, Home and Professional. Microsoft plans to release around seven editions, yes I said seven. According to an article by Ken "Caesar" Fisher entitled "Windows Vista product editions revealed", that is the plan of Microsoft is going to roll-out.
